Professional commitment
I have a professional and ethical commitment to protecting client confidentiality and privacy. All information shared between us is treated in complete confidence and I do not share it or use it for any other purposes.
Your personal information
As part of my professional practice I am required to obtain standard personal information including your contact details and address, as well as your next of kin and your GP contact details. I only collect this information for my records, and in case I need to make contact with your next of kin or GP because I am concerned for your immediate safety or the safety of someone you know. I will always aim to seek your consent to contact and keep you informed. By providing this standard information you give consent to it being stored on my private computer and in paper form in a secure place. (Any notes relating to your sessions are anonymised.) I store your information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and GDPR.
Part of my legal obligation and professional code of practice means that if I obtain information regarding money laundering, and terrorism, I am obliged to contact the relevant authority (e.g. Police, local authority etc) and share information without your consent.
Once therapy has ended you can choose whether I retain the information should you wish to return the therapy at a later date or you can ask me to remove and destroy it. If it is retained I will keep your information for no longer than is necessary. At the moment my insurance company (Balens) requires me to retain client information for a maximum of seven years.
Contact form and cookies
If you contact me via the website you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again if you contact me again. These cookies will last for one year.
